FUTURE OF JOURNALISM

New media - future of journalistic                              work?

Time goes extremely quickly and makes the world adjust to itself. Journalism also doesn’t stand still. Traditional media alone are more not able to satisfy audience’s demands and audience is demanding ‘big, fast and qualitative content’. New media are being more often asked for information; they can recreate worldview from its each side by every mean: by telling, showing, giving references on similar material, giving opportunity to speak your mind and to feel yourself part of what is happening around. New media give users an opportunity to take an active part in communicative process and to treat received messages selectively.
But what will happen to television, radio and printed press? Is it that New Media are soon will displace traditional ones? We can‘t say definitely but it is really hard to imagine our life without television in apartment, without voice from radio in bus or car, without newsstand. That is why traditional and new media still co-exists together but not in equal rights.
New media make our life easier but not everyone have a need of absorbing the information quickly and as long as there are people who are awaiting patiently for news release on television and who believe the information from radio programs, traditional and new media will co-exist.

The World is changing and nothing unchangeable. In 21 century the Internet has become the important part of our life and it is being more often aid that journalism will fade away due to bloggers, civil journalists and various social networks from which needed information may be received. Then what is the journalism’s future?

Today media are divided into traditional and new ones. Traditional media are television, radio, printed press and news agencies. According to Russell Neumann: “New media is a new format of media’s existence. It is always available on digital gadgets and implies user’s active participation in creation and spreading of content”. This new form appeared due to the Internet where every second people can get new information. But audience’s aim is difficult. If traditional media are responsible for content, for its reliability, then in the Internet everyone should filter information themselves.

After the Internet appeared, it was being said that newspapers will vanish, but the same was being said about theatre and the cinema, it was said that theatre will also vanish. But as we can see, neither this nor that has happened. Vice versa some people have found out about some newspapers’ existence from the Internet and they started buying them printed. In some countries content from the Internet is also not free and some prefer to read holding printed newspaper rather than on laptop. It is the same thing with books’ readers: some people just don’t accept e-books because such books don’t have “a soul” and it can’t be touched.

I’m inclined to believe that journalism will not vanish because people has always been ready to pay for verified information since XVI century and professional journalists will always be a priority because there are no civilians that would go to hot spots in order to write a post in social network, but journalists will have to make it in order to give us accurate information. Only means and ways of delivering of information will change but the mission will stay the same.

I think that in the nearest several years journalistic work will be transformed. It is approved by modern trends. For example, communication technologies are developing, workers of media sphere try to become universal and multifunctional, also increase ways of searching information. All these tendencies create a positive future of journalistic and moreover, they lighten correspondent’s and editor’s tasks. But at the same time it is able to create negative consequences for journalistic in traditional conception of journalistic sphere. And I'm going to write about both points of view.

On the one hand, modern trends make us to think about positive future of journalistic work, because developing of the Internet gives media a lot of opportunities. Journalists became more portable and universal. They have mass of information’s sources, new programs for creating texts, photos, videos and interactive graphics. Moreover, sometimes they need to work and for TV channel and for paper. To looking for topics and facts became simpler. That is why journalist are able to create many materials in short period of time. Also they have lots of opportunities of playing with forms of presentation their texts. It makes media more amazing, informative and attractive for audience.

But on the other hand, presenters of journalistic sphere are becoming incapable of finding exclusive news. A huge part of topics and facts taken from other web-sites. And traditional journalistic work loses her charm and romantic.

In conclusion I'd like to say that in spite of existing negative facts, which accompany developing of journalistic, it will be transforming in new and modern sphere. Media will attract more and more people and always be useful for them.

Nowadays journalism – is a main part of our social system. Thanks to it all people may know the new actual information of the world. Moreover, all students in this sphere know that journalism – is a Fourth Power. Many people may just guess about it.

These facts only a little part of the truth, that journalism – is a great power. You may believe in it or not, but our world based on such things. Spreading information is not the only aim of a journalistic work. There are some “hiding” things, which are staying back of your side. But they all have a good pressure. And it is much more because of this hiding. You even do not guess about it. Your life does not touch it. But they have an effect on you.

The technology aspect also have a good effect on people. In a journalism sphere we can see it in some media platforms and hybridization. Internet became the main foundation for the journalism, and now the biggest mass media system are exists only there. So I believe, that internet had changed not only the world, but the mass media too. Now journalism became mightier.

So I strongly believe that in the future the journalism won’t disappear at all. It is also connect to new technologies, which is becoming mightier too. Thanks to technology the mass media has the power. It is also the step to the future. Maybe the journalism will be a bit different. Probably the correspondents will do some another work. But all people in mass media will control a people’s mind. They will say you, how you should clothing. They will show you how you should live. They will say you only that information you may know. It is a fairytale about the journalism’s disappearing. It all was and will be. No other way.
